New Year......New River

It is customary that I generally write a New Years message, so I figured that this new year shouldn't be any different. The year brings both happiness and sorrow. Sorrow for our matriarch "pappy" Carpenter who I understand is going thru some difficulty with the latest eye surgery. If your wandering around the web and run across this message, please know that we're all thinking about you and wish you a full recovery.
The happiness side of this message is that it is finally raining. Rain may not mean much to the average fella, but to a bonder, it's the blood that feeds the body of water we call the New River.
It's hard to imagine the trip is only 6 months away and planning meetings will take place in the next month or two.
So in closing, may your river flow full this year, and may those hidden rocks that rub gently on your underside leave no marks.....

As always, I am the ,door

2007 In the Books

Well, it's over. Another trip "in the books". Weather was great, water was........ and the food was splendid. Thanks to "the vagabondage chef" for all the great meals. Sorry that JC forgot to bring his game, but, there's always another year....... Congrats' to E and Dog for a strong game of Shoes. I'm still looking for pictures, so send what you got, and I'll put on the ones that meet FCC regulations.

Time to Go.......

Game on boys.....gather your gear and head north. Thursday is the day. Contrary to popular dissention, the site remains the same. Bring cash - the food isn't free.
Rumer has it - Kyle has learned a new "grip". Could be he has decided to "step up" and take charge of the Carpenter dynasty, or is that a Carpenter disentary???

NRBC 2007

Greetings and Salutations to all the members. It is with little fanfare that we announce the date for this years main event. Mark your calendars for June 21-24th. Do take notice that there is a new location this year. You will not get a map to this location until your payment is received in full. Please understand the problems of the past, and you will understand the "cloak of secrecy". Some changes in the schedule have also been made.
- The only day of canoeing will be Saturday.
- The horseshoe Tournament will start on Friday.
- The cost will be $175.00 per person.
We are discussing the possibilty of having a cook handle food. There will be a cost for this in addition to the cost of the trip. More information to follow on this.

Greetings and Salutations

Hope all is well with the members of NRBC. Just a reminder that the bored of detractors, during there annual meeting has decided to move the trip to an undisclosed location. Actual we will tell you the location, but only in an encrypted, self-dissolving, message at a later date. Don't fret, it's in the same vicinity. The reason is we seem to have become a spectacle, a freak show of sorts. For some of you, this temptation to "cross-over" to the other side is too strong of a force.
Look for for more information to follow.

I just can't explain it.......

That is the crowd that this group seems to attract.....are we just so damn popular that everybody has to see what we're doing? Enough said about the intrusions and distractions, we already have a plan in motion to handle that problem for next year. We plan on hiring "Julie" the cruise director from the love boat.

Wheat Bread?

Get your game on.......If you haven't paid.......guess what?....your not coming.
Rumor has it....the Carpenter boyz have requested "wheat bread" be served at the table.
Well, I don't know where they come from, but I'm a "Wonder" boy...that's right....only white bread for this Commadoor.
Maybe I should pack a bottle of Metamucil just to help things along. Hope we have enough green bottle, for everybody. See you boyz next week, love ya'....mean it.

2006 marks 10 years

For those of you who can actually count, yeh....you know who I'm talkin about....it is the 10th year anniversary of the NRBC annual canoe trip. All are looking forward to an exciting year.....on the river......and on the staub. Here it is the friday before and the Commadoor is hard at work preparing the many things that I must prepare. It's a tough job, but I'll manage....somehow. We did receive some sad news today, A brother to one of our faithful, Mike Crothers, passed away suddenly. We extend our sympathy for this family.

And the River Turns Nasty...........

Since the Panthers lost in Seattle, I've given up drinking Starbucks. Good luck to the Carpenter Boys, as they embark on another "festive" Superbowl weekend. (May your salsa stay in its bowl). The date for this years 10th year Bondage Run Celebration is scheduled for June 22nd-25th. If there are no conflicts, then we will procure the necessary arrangements from our long list of vendors, plumbers, tileman, marbleman, concreteist, sub-contractors, contractors and yes....potters. And by the way.....just what do you do Barry?

New Year......New River.....New Format

Happy New Year to all NRBC members. As the sands of the hourglass slip slowly by, I thought I would interject some thoughts to all those who.... like me, seek inner peace and tranquility for the upcoming new year. In light of mental anguish, I propose a new format for the the upcoming year. Since this will be the 10th anniversary of the NRBC, a little change may do us all some good.
1. The fee should reflect the value - $200.00
2. The horseshoe tourney needs to be shortened, and sweetened.
3. Finally, the participants need to be held to the first 18 paid....final.
4. Lastly, the canoe trip may need to be adjusted to those who wish to canoe vs. those who pitch.
Please feel free to comment.

NRBC 9th YEAR COMES TO A CLOSE

What can be said.......The weather was great......the river was great......and the look on Joel Carpenters face.......PRICELESS. Not to take anything away from Barry and Butch......Way to go, 1st place winners of the 2005 NRBC Horseshoe Tournament. After 2 arduous days of play, Barry and Butch closed the door on the Commadoor and the Chuckster in the wee hours of Saturday night. Double elimination hung heavy on the hearts of some (Scott) but hey.......better luck next year.
Stay tuned for pictures....the censors are busy.
